This is the only surviving pre-war cinema still in business in the city. It was designed by architect Reginald Cooper in the Art Deco style and was built in 1935. Looking at old photographs, it is clear that some of the elements that made the design Art Deco have been removed In 1972 the interior was re-modeled to provide three screens instead of one |
