Front entrance from Racecourse Road

These gates are modern works but a fine set of ornate gates contemporary with the house (1776) were found buried in mud and were thought to have been ripped off by rioters who entered the grounds in 1831 - the year they also destroyed Nottingham Castle by fire. These original gates are in the Nottingham Castle Museum
