The Elite Cinema Upper Parliament Street Unfortunately, this magnificent building is no longer a cinema but in it's heyday it was one of Nottingham's finest. The exterior, clad in glazed terracotta, still gives testament to its quality and there can be few if any that display so much detail. Just the sculptures of the figures alone must have cost a fortune. The interior was equally opulent. It was designed by Adamson & Kinns of London and opened in on 22nd August 1921 with the Mary Picford film Pollyanna. Following a slow decline, it finally closed as a cinema in 1977 © Ray Teece 12-07-2006 NB00139 |
