The Fox & Grapes Public House

Southwell Road, Sneinton

Now known as Peggers

Also known a 'Pretty Windows'

This pub now stands closed, but in it's heyday it was a bustling market pub that held a special Markets & Fairs Licence that allowed it to open early to cater for the workers and customers  in the Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable Market that surrounded it on three sides.  When the market closed, its fate was sealed and although it carried on under its new name, it could never attract the kind of business that it once enjoyed.  The name 'Pretty Windows' came from the beautiful etched glass windows in ornate frames that it once had. All now gone, it is now something of an eyesore.
