The George Hotel George Street, Nottingham This hotel was built between 1822 & 1823 and was originally named The King George the Forth Inn. Over the years it has had a number of owners including The Duke of Rutland up to the early 1980's. Today it is known as The Mercure Hotel (See next picture) and has been completely refurbished inside. This picture was taken when it was the Comfort Inn. The hotel has seen many famous guests over its long history including novelist Charles Dickens and actors Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton
