I
regret
that
I
did
not
visit
this
site
earlier
on
during
the
construction
process,
but
the
following
shots
do
give
some
idea
of
how
they
were
put
together
and
how
imaginative
shapes
combined
with
imaginative
materials
have
produced
something
very
unique
and
special.
The
shapes
in
themselves
created
their
own
construction
challenges
requiring
a
whole
new
approach
to
the
task
of
lifting
of
materials
and
labour.
The
Gateway,
my
own
favourite
building
of
the
three,
also
demanded
skills
probably
more
often
found
in
timber
shipbuilding.
As
the
photographs
below
reveal,
underneath
the
metal
tile
cladding,
the
steel
framework
was
first
clad
in
timber
planking
requiring
each
plank
to
be
individually
shaped
and
bent
to
accommodate
the
non-uniform
sweeping
contours
of
the
building.
