This grand building in The Renaissance
Revival style was once the Nottingham Head Post Office. It was designed by
Sir Henry Tanner of
The Office of Works and was built between 1895 and 1898. Only the
facade of the original building remains. The rest was demolished and
re-built c1985 and is now mostly let out as offices and a restaurant.
This building is typical of the pride that was once lavished on such
buildings, today it would no doubt just be another boring glass, steel
& concrete box. How boring Nottingham would be today without the
Victorians!

NOTE:- There is still a Post Office
in Queen Street. The new building at the top after this one
