This has been a popular pub in Nottingham for many years and as the sign shows is reputed to date from 1240, though what is visible is likely to date from a later period The pub has extensive and very interesting cellars cut into the sandstone rock This is the older part. A later extension and the main entrance are on Maid Marion Way. The pathway on the right is a continuation of Hounds Gate, the road in front St Nicholas Street or Jew Lane as it was known. |
