Yates's Wine Lodge / The Talbot Inn Long Row Yates's now occupies the building that was The Talbot Inn and as the inscription on the gable says, this was established in 1380. The present building is obviously not the original and it was probably re-built several times over the past 600 years. The original Talbot Inn was used by The Talbot family when they had business in the city. This family later became The Earls of Shrewsbury. I seem to recall that in the 1960's there was another bar that was accessed down stairs to the right of the entrance but these seem to have disappeared. Unfortunately, I can't recall it's name - maybe it was The Talbot ?
