Bulwell is mentioned in the Doomsday
book of 1086 and was a thriving town in its own right before it was
incorporated into The City of Nottingham in the 1890's. Where once
it was industrialized earning its wealth from coal mining, stone quarrying
(The famous orange coloured Bulwell sand stone), and brick making, it is now primarily a
dormitory town for Nottingham, surrounded by many large residential
developments.
