Until relatively recently, Chapel Bar used to be a continuation of Derby Road before the top end was blocked off. It is now a backwater with pavement cafes. Chapel Bar was the site of one of the original fortified gateways into the medieval town of Nottingham. The gate incorporated a small chapel, hence its name. |
