In the 1940's the shop on the corner of Peel Street was Paton The Chemists. It had one of those wonderful Victorian interiors in dark wood with labelled wooden drawers and various shapes and sizes of labelled bottles and jars. As a small child I was fascinated every time we visited.

The public house is The Golden Fleece
