Wilford Toll Bridge - NET Tram Stop

Wilford, Nottingham
-

Built by Sir Robert Clifton the mine owner, and opened in 1870. he could never have envisaged that his bridge would one day carry tram traffic.  Whilst the bridge has been substantially  strengthened and upgraded to carry the greater loads, the retention of the original red brick abutments and toll office mean that it has managed to retain much of it's original character and I'm sure Sir Robert would approve.  Shortly after these photographs were taken, the new line from Clifton South to Nottingham Station (The Hub) via Wilford came into service on 25th August 2015
