Nottingham
no
longer
has
an
active
cattle
&
livestock
market,
but
the
site
of
the
old
one
on
Cattle
Market
Road
&
Meadow
Lane
that
was
opened
in
1886
is
still
there
and
many
of
the
buildings
associated
with
the
livestock
trade
remain
intact.
There
remain
one
or
two
active
businesses
on
the
site
including
a
military
surplus
stores
and
an
auctioneers,
but
for
the
most
part
it
now
stands
silent
and
abandoned.
In
this
section
I
have
also
included
buildings
not
actually
within
the
market
compound
but
others
nearby
that
were
directly
related
and
dependent
upon
the
livestock
industry.
Some
of
these
now
have
a
new
use
and
some
are
difficult
to
photograph
due
to
the
position
they
are
in.
I
think
the
market
site
is
worth
a
visit
just
to
see
the
wonderful
iron
gates
that
have
recently
been
restored
and
are
also
pictured
below.
