The Nottingham Victoria Station

Clock Tower Detail

The loss of Victoria Station was a tragedy for Nottingham, robbing the city of a North / South through main line link to London and leaving us with just the Midland branch line.

This was turned into a double tragedy by the City Council in allowing the ugly Victoria Centre to be built without making provision for possible future through use of the tunnels at either end.  Had they done so, what a wonderful tram line or light commuter railway the old rail routes would have made. The tunnels are still there but lead nowhere.
