Nottingham Castle Bust - Lord Byron - Poet 1788 - 1824 by Alfred Drury The Byron family seat was Newstead Abbey just north of the city . This is owned by the City Council and is open to the public. For lovers of Byron it is well worth a visit. Byron also lived for a very short while in a house at the top of St. James's Street. This is a just very short walk from Nottingham Castle.
